Timing Is Just as Important as the Plant Itself
A well-matched plant can still falter if it's placed in the ground at the wrong moment. Go too early in spring and a surprise frost can wipe out tender new shoots. Wait too long and summer heat can arrive before roots have had a chance to settle in. Grassroots Lawncare builds every seasonal planting around Altamont, KS's own frost history and climate patterns, not a one-size-fits-all national schedule.
Spring installations only move forward once the real risk of frost has passed for this area, rather than following a generic date on a calendar. Fall plantings, an option many homeowners overlook, take advantage of milder temperatures and lighter water demands, giving perennials and shrubs the opportunity to root deeply before winter sets in, resulting in sturdier growth come spring.
Keeping Color Flowing Without Bare, Empty Beds
It's common for properties to hit a lull once spring flowers fade but before summer blooms are ready, leaving beds looking bare for weeks at a stretch. Grassroots Lawncare maps out each seasonal changeover so replacement plantings are staged and ready the moment the prior round has passed its peak, keeping your landscape looking full instead of patchy.
Following every installation, we walk you through the watering and maintenance steps suited to that particular planting, because a spring bed settling into warming soil has different needs than a fall bed heading toward winter rest, and one-size-fits-all advice misses that distinction.

What Altamont, KS Customers Say
Late frosts used to wreck our spring beds nearly every year. Getting the timing right this season meant everything came through without a scratch.
We had never thought about fall planting before working with this crew. The shrubs installed last fall came back noticeably stronger than anything we'd tried planting ourselves in spring.
Our beds used to sit bare for weeks between plantings. This year the shift from spring to summer flowers happened without any gap at all.

Common Questions
We rely on frost data specific to Altamont, KS to confirm the danger of frost has truly passed before starting spring installations, rather than going by a standard date on a calendar.
It does. Cooler air and lower water demand in fall let many perennials and shrubs develop deeper roots before dormancy, which typically leads to stronger growth once spring arrives.
We schedule each seasonal changeover so the next round of plantings is prepared before the current one fades, keeping any bare stretch to a minimum.
Absolutely. After each installation we provide care direction matched to the season and plant type, since spring and fall plantings call for different watering and maintenance routines.
